PBF was started in 1996 by a handful of visionary Bull Fighters with a desire to spotlight the sport of Protection Bullfighting competition. Today the PBF is the premier Bull Fighters organization in the United States. With the growth of professional bull riding into mainstream sports, a competition for Protection Bull Fighters was not only imminent, but demanded as a structured venue to bring elite bull fighting athletes to the forefront of the industry. Increasingly the sport is growing into a fan favorite across the United States as a sport within a sport, with the bull at the center of simultaneous competitions.

The Protection Bull Fighting competition aspect pushes the protection athletes to always go above and beyond their best. The alternating team venue provides a fresh set of athletes for all riders. Daisy’s “Take Aim at Safety” campaign is a comprehensive and multi-faceted Shooting Safety Campaign. Major components include the “Ten Shooting Safety Rules” brochure included in every gun package and an online sweepstakes. This program is tied in with all of Daisy’s major sports marketing and shooting sports sponsorships including Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) and the National 4-H Shooting Sports Foundation, just to name a few. The four character traits promoted by the Take Aim at Safety campaign are discipline, patience, responsibility and self-control. “These character traits translate to all aspects of life, especially protection bull fighting” stated Susan Johnston.
